NFL WEEK 10 - SUNDAY'S PREVIEWS

Here's an NFL Week 10 factoid just for you: There are only two games on the Sunday schedule that pit teams with winning records against one another - that's Carolina (5-3) at Green Bay (7-2) and the Sunday Night Football game between Minnesota (6-3) at Dallas (5-3) - though we know everyone's waiting to see what happens in this year's "Stupor Bowl" between the 2-and-7 New York Giants "at" the 1-and-7 New York Jets ... egads!

In NFL Week 10, it's ...

CAROLINA (5-3) at GREEN BAY (7-2) - 4:25 p.m. ET, Fox
Will the real Green Bay Packers please stand up? Last week's lifeless 26-11 loss at the LA Chargers included this key stat: QB Aaron Rodgers threw for only 61 yards in the first three quarters of that clash and do keep in mind Mr. Rodgers is averaging 276.1 yards per game thru the air waves this year. If Carolina - a 5-point pup here - is gonna feed the Pack a second consecutive loss than (obviously) RB Christian McCaffrey (881 yards rushing and 13 total TDs) must bust off some monster runs but that Panthers' defense that ranks a solid 11th league-wide in pass defense must have their sack shoes on too.
Spread Notes - Green Bay is a solid 6-3 ATS (against the spread) this season but note the Packers are just 10-11 vg-wise as hosts the past two-plus seasons; Carolina enters this game having covered 5-of-6 tilts since its 0-2 spread start.

On Sunday Nite, it's ...
MINNESOTA (6-3) at DALLAS (5-3) - 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC
There's a whole lotta buzz regarding the star running backs here: Minny's Dalvin Cook has 894 yards rushing and 9 ground TDs while Cowboys' stud Zeke Elliott sports 741 rushing yards with 6 ground scores ...let's just say they'll be a "wash" here and then consider Vikings' QB Kirk Cousins is 1-6 SU (straight-up) in his career against Dallas. Hmmm. One X-factor here is big: Both teams could be missing star pass-catchers ... Minnesota's Adam Thielen (hamstring) and Dallas' Amari Cooper (knee) are hurtin'.
Spread Notes - Dallas is 71-73-5 ATS in the Jason Garrett Era and that includes this year's 5-and-3 spread start; Minnesota's 57-32-3 ATS under sixth-year head coach Mike Zimmer but the Vikes here are looking to avoid their first three-game ATS losing skid since 2016.

In other NFL Week 10 action, it's ...

DETROIT (3-4-1) at CHICAGO (3-5) - 1 p.m. ET, CBS
The Bears may be the biggest busts in this league since the Canton Bulldogs! QB Mitch Trubisky wanted the TVs turned off this week at Halas Hall but how does he stop the Soldier Field faithful from booing here? Note: Chicago is 2-6 ATS this season.

KANSAS CITY (6-3) at TENNESSEE (4-5) - 1 p.m. ET, CBS
The word is KayCee QB Patrick Mahomes (kneecap) is back after missing the last 2+ games but will it take some time to synch up the long-ball with WR Tyreek Hill here? Note: The Chiefs have failed to cover four of their last five non-AFC West tilts.

BUFFALO (6-2) at CLEVELAND (2-6)—1 p.m. ET, CBS
Not sure if we've seen the underachieving Brownies hit "rock bottom" yet but did you know Cleveland QB Baker Mayfield has thrown 7 TDs with 12 INTs and he's been sacked 23 times ... do another commercial, kiddo! Note: Cleveland's 2-6 versus the vig the first half of this 2019 campaign after finishing last year with five covers in its last seven games.

LOS ANGELES RAMS (5-3) at PITTSBURGH (4-4) - 4:25 p.m. ET, Fox
Doesn't it seem as if the defending NFC champion Rams are a "forgotten team" in the NFL this season? The passing attack ranks fifth in the league and WR Cooper Kupp (792 receiving yards and 5 TDs) is in our personal top five list of MVP candidates. Note: The Rams have covered 10 of their last 13 games dating back to late last year.

NOTE: Catch our NFL Week 10 recaps and much more in the next edition of Jim Sez.
