A Message From National Handicapping Champ, John Conte:
On Wednesday, December 6th racing makes what appears to be “across the street moves.”
At Aqueduct, racing simply makes a move from the main dirt course oval to the winterized Inner Dirt Track oval that circles just inside that main track.
In Florida, racing switches from Gulfstream Park West (formerly known as Calder Race Course) to Gulfstream Park. Though many of the barns that raced during the just completed Calder meet will be in action, there will be the usual invasion of top notch barns from all over the country for what is hands down the nation’s premier winter race meet.
I mention this because the switch from the main track to the Inner Dirt Track and from Gulfstream Park West to Gulfstream Park is far from seamless.
This message is intended to do one thing and I will make this as brief as possible.
(FULL OPENING WEEK PAYOFFS AT EACH MEET ARE WELL WORTH GETTING INVOLVED IN)
If you know anything at all about me you know that I am a full time horse player. Yes, I am also a public handicapper, but the plays I release are the same ones that I bet and the same ones that have lead me to win numerous local and national handicapping contests, including the grandest of them all, the NTRA/DRF National Championship in which I took down the $500,000 First Prize Money.
It is of course this Full Time Horse Playing Lifestyle which leads me to the Aqueduct Inner Dirt Track and Gulfstream Park during the early days of each meet. And the reason is simple. THAT IS WHERE THE MONEY IS.
Before I show you just how well I and my clients di during the first full weeks at the Aqueduct Inner Dirt Track and at Gulfstream park last year, let’s take a look at what I mean by “where the money is.”
(AQUEDUCT INNER DIRT TRACK IS A NEW CHALLENGE)
Over the course of the first full week of racing at Aqueduct last year (Weds. 12-7 – Sun. 12/11) beating the favorites with the right price horse was the rule rather than the exception.
*There were 41 races the opening 5 days
*Only 10 post time favorites or 24.4% won
*Of the 31 non-favorites that won the average win payoff was $18.05
There is no secret or unexplained mystery behind this.
*The composite of the “dirt” surface is completely different.
*The starting gates are differently located.
*There is the one turn 6 furlong race and no 61/2 or 7 furlong sprints.
*One mile and longer go around two turns.
*The turns are naturally must tighter on the smaller oval.
This means that a long range knowledge of horses for courses, running styles, jockey tendencies and other factors is at a premium as bettors are slow to make the adjustments, even if they ever do.

(Check Here For All the Winning Details)
(GULFSTREAM PARK PROVIDES PLENTY OF EARLY OPPORTUNITY)
At Gulfstream Park the favorite players might do a bit better than at Aqueduct but those percentages are still below the national norm of about 35%.
*There were 72 races the opening 7 days
*23 post time favorites or 30.9% were winners
*Of the 49 non-favorites that won the average win payoff was $20.51
Those break-down numbers at Aqueduct and Gulfstream are indicative of the opportunity available if you know when to utilize them.
